SOOC Sunday

I haven't been doing any photography this past week - Dan is scheduled for angioplasty and stents tomorrow morning (for a complete update, you can visit my other blog here at The Road Awaits).  These photos are from our Dolphin Tour off the coast of Virginia Beach last June.  These fellows were pretty hard to catch above the surface because we were in a moving boat, and they were having such a good time circling us!  By the time we would get to the side of the boat to see them, and I would get the camera positioned, they were back down and circling again!  Of the 115 shots I took, these were the best.

The brown pelicans were flying all around us most of the time we were in the boat - guess we were churning up lunch for them!

As you can see, we were traveling very close to the shore - we have lived here many years and this was our first dolphin-watching trip.  I am glad we did it.

Spring Has Sprung!

For once, Mama Kat's Writer's Workshop was an easy one for me.  Not necessarily a good thing for me, because it doesn't require me to stretch my abilities as a writer...but nonetheless, a favorite subject!  The prompt was this:
2.) Has Spring sprung? Post a photo journal of what Spring is looking like in your neck of the woods!

Since I spend so much time photographing my flowers and buds, I thought I would share a daily walk 'round the yard!

Amaryllis

Hydrangea ready to bloom

Ice Plant

Sedum in bloom
I have so many more photos - the Hosta are growing almost while I watch...the Huechera Coral Bells is back for the 4th year, my bearded Iris and Japanese Iris are in bloom.  My King Edward Yarrow is standing tall, the Ageratum is spreading its soft leaves and the Daisies are spilling out over the lawn.  I have some plants whose names I can not remember and of course, my roses.  Every year I say no more flowers, and then I stop at Lowes or Home Depot and find something I cannot live without.  I am addicted to things that grow in the dirt...hope you enjoyed the walk around my yard!

Wake-Up Call!

I am currently sitting in a hospital room in ICU with my husband, who suffered a heart attack yesterday afternoon.  He is scheduled to be moved to the Cardiac Center in Norfolk on Friday for surgery - possibly stents or bypass.  We will know more today, but I am doubtful that I will get to reading everyone's blogs and commenting.   I just wanted you to know what was going on.  I will post and visit as I can.  I am not exactly thinking clearly at this point!  Thinking only good thoughts...we were already at the hospital when he went into arrest - had been complaining of chest pains.  There were many angels attending yesterday, from the police officer who assisted me and called the ambulance, to the doctors and nurses who were here when he arrested and were able to bring him back so quickly.  My sons rushed to be here with me, my mother and sister offered to come if I wanted them, and so many people have made offers to help, I am totally overwhelmed.  At times like these, you realize what is important - tell those you love how you feel, while you can.  30 minutes longer at home while he was not telling me about the pain in his chest and arm, and the result would have been a lot different today.  As it is, I still have a husband and partner, and I am grateful to God,the angels I was surrounded with yesterday, my family, and the prayer warriors in many states.

Until the next time...Linda

PS: For those who follow both of my blogs, I am posting the same thing over at The Road Awaits.

Gulls!

Seagulls are so much fun to watch when you are traveling by ferry...they love to ride the wake and fish the roiling waters.  On this trip, these brown speckled seagulls were content to ride the ferry instead...they know people will feed them.  And feed them they did...

If I wait long enough...

Look, a Fruit Loop!

Hope no one else is  looking!
Mine!

I am the greatest!

Birth of a Rose

Last Sunday, I posted the bud (presented here again for comparison)...and decided to journal the birth of the rose from bud to flower. First the yellow rose...

Then the red...

And then the red and white...

That's whats in bloom in my rose garden...how about yours?

Reflections

There's just something about boats and the water that says summer to me (even though summer doesn't get here officially for over 2 months)!

Enjoy more great reflections over at Weekend Reflections.

Random Thoughts on a Thursday

May you always be as happy as a dragonfly in the sunshine!

Someday you will love me...I will be beautiful!

Solitary beauty.

Brown Thrasher on my fence...eyeing the thistle feeder or the suet...not sure which!
