Reflecting on the Past

While on a visit to the Marine Corps Museum in Triangle, VA, we saw the original flag that was raised on Iwo Jima during World War II.  Flash photography is not allowed because of the possibility of damage to what remains.  When I saw the photo, I was thrilled to see the big star reflected in the glass.

How neat! My dad was a WWII vet, and fought at the Battle of the Bulge. It's so cool to see this flag through your site. xoxo

What a lucky capture. I'm amazed that flag was recovered. I never really gave it much thought but, I would have expected it to have been left behind.
