Ruby Tuesday 2

At the Aviation Museum in Virginia Beach, we had an opportunity to view all kinds of transport vehicles.  This little car - the AmphiCar - was first produced in 1961.  By 1965, only 4000 had been produced, so it was never a big market piece.  But, it was a pretty neat little car!  President Lyndon Johnson owned one, and used to like to scare visitors by driving them straight down the hill to the lake, yelling that his brakes were broken!

In 1965, two of these vehicles successfully navigated the Yukon River in Alaska.  They have also appeared in 4 movies.  What a fun piece of history!

Good one, Linda!
«Louis» has seen one of these - it was also red. He had forgotten that story about LBJ, but now that you've reminded him, he remembers it. («Louis» grew up in LBJ's Texas...)

Hi Linda, What a cool little car, it looks like it would be a lot of fun to drive. Of course you need a pretty silk scarf and big sunglasses.
I don't know if I've ever said this, but the wooden bridge at the top of your blog is so enchanting . . . I just want to walk down it and see where it leads. It looks like an adventure waiting to happen.

I am happy that you liked my old beat up bucket re-do. The best part is, Sunday when Steve wanted a rag for a job out in the backyard, he knew right where to go. That makes me happy, because now I won't see my nice dish towels ruined with stains and paint. Have a great week, Connie :)

Linda, what a cute little car. It would be fun to ride to the beach in this car. Great shots.

I didn't even know we had an aviation museum until the sign appeared along the interstate recently. Cool car! I'll bet the President had a blast with it.
