Happy Birthday, Mom!

First thing - it is my mother's birthday today - Happy Birthday, Mom!  You are absolutely the best mother anyone could ever ask for!  I love you!  My blog today is dedicated to you!

Our Mentorship in the Garden night at the local botanical gardens last week yielded many opportunities to photograph the color red!  My first one was this plant - a new one for me.  This is a Pagoda Plant - very unique and pretty.

Great gold-digger wasp - in the thread-waisted wasp family.
Thanks to Ms. Becky over at Shaking the Tree, I now know this is a Sea Holly plant...
What a clever use of old boots!

Linking to Ruby Tuesday 2.

the old boots are wonderful! You wouldn't call your mother an old boot though would you?

I like the wasp on the Sea Holly. I have photographed that plant several times. I have a fun one from mentor night a few years ago (I'm also part of HRDSC but have missed the last several meetings) with the breeze blowing as the light failed. It's a great place for photographs.

Cheers.

We have a nursery here that sells plants potted in old work out workbooks and cowboy boots. They must have a deal with Goodwill to find them all.

Never seen galoshes done before. Love the bright colors.

I got to go find me one of those Sea Holly plants. Love everything about it.
