I guess if I took the time to Google it, I might figure it out, but things have been so crazy in my world lately, I just haven't taken the time to do it, and now here it is Tuesday and time for Ruby Tuesday 2 and I still don't know what it is. If anyone does, I would love to know! If not, please just enjoy the unique "thingamajig" on this stem!

I don’t either....but it certainly is unique and interesting. The splotches of color are a real eye catcher. It also look like one of the scratchy brushes at my kitchen sink :-) genie

I can't help you with the ID and I've never even seen one before, but it's beautiful. Nice shots of whatever it is, Linda!
I've never seen anything like it! But it's sort of neat.
I don't know Linda, but I want it for my garden. :)
That's lovely!
I'm with the others, I do not know what it is. But, my gut is yelling that it is some type of fungus. Can't wait to see if anyone knows the answer.
i have no idea, but i do know that i love your photography!
gorgeous shots, linda!
Not sure I have ever seen anything like that before- but I would almost bet it is not part of that plant. Great shots!
How rubilicious!
When I have a question I send a photo of it to the University of MO Extension office, under the tab Ask an Expert. Maybe your state has something like this.
