All Puffed Up!

Back in December, when I had just started blogging, I posted about this little fellow.  Since no one was reading me then, I am pretty sure no one saw him.  He was just too pretty to allow him to go unnoticed forever!  He was sitting outside on my deck railing, soaking up the sunshine during a particularly nasty cold snap (for my friends in Canada and points north - if it is below 32, it is a nasty cold snap for me!).  I looked in my field guide to identify him and to the best of my knowledge, he is a Red-headed Cowbird.  If someone knows differently, PLEASE let me know!  I have learned so much from all of you - and I prefer to be informed!

He posed quite nicely, then flew away, leaving his mess behind!

I am linking to World Bird Wednesday and Outdoor Wednesday.

Very cute little bird - whatever it might be! Cold is definitely relative! I live in the tropics and the night-time temps have just dropped below 60 degrees F and the winter 'woolies' are already out!

He is cute all puffed up!
This looks like a cowbird to me and they are called Brown-headed cowbirds. :)
They empty my feeders if I let them. :)

A gorgeous little bird, Linda. Not sure about the id -- I don't think I've ever seen one.

That would be a Brown Headed Cowbird and they are quite friendly, as well as naughty. Well depending on the word naughty... The use host birds to raise their young, placing their eggs in a nest of another to raise. Quite sad if it happens to be a Wren's nest and those little Wrens don't get as much care, with a growing Cowbird in residence~
